API Equality Northern California is glad to be a community partner and co-presenter for CAAMFest 2015, hosted by the Center for Asian American Media.
We will be presenting the following programs:
Out/Here Shorts Program
This year’s collection of short films for CAAMFest’s OUT/HERE program broadens the scope of what it means to be queer. These films cover a wide range of experiences in the LGBT community, while also focusing on the personal stories: from interviews with the first generation of Asian Pacific Islander queer activists in the San Francisco Bay Area to an experimental performance that pokes fun at cinematic romance, and a deeper look into mental issues within intersectional communities of color and queerness. These narratives and documentaries bring us into a much larger dialogue about the Asian American Pacific Islander queer community.
Screening date: March 15, 2015, 12:00 pm @ Castro Theatre

My Fair Wedding, directed by Jang Hee-Sun of South Korea
This intimate and candid documentary follows filmmakers Gwang-Soo and Dave as they plan their landmark wedding, the first same-sex marriage to be performed in South Korea. Meanwhile, gay marriage opponents make their displeasure heard before and during the grooms’ special day. My Fair Wedding captures this light-hearted love story with strong undertones about marriage equality.
