2015 Transgender Day of Remembrance Events
November 20th is the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), a day to honor the memory of those lost because of anti-transgender violence, and a day to lift up the narratives of transgender folks who are still thriving. This list is a way to highlight the TDoR events happening in and around the Bay Area during the month of November.
Transgender Day of Remembrance SF

What: The theme of this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance is “Rooted in Remembrance; Living with Resilience.” The memorial will feature speeches from community leaders, performances by local trans artists, and will close out with powerful words from Janetta Johnson of TGI Justice Project (TGIJP) and TAJA’s Coalition. Following the formal program, there will be an opportunity to connect with each other over light refreshments and an additional outdoor remembrance ritual.

2015 San Francisco Transgender Film Festival
What: The San Francisco Transgender Film Festival announces its 14th festival a stellar collection of transgender films from around the globe. This year’s festival takes place at two venerable SF cinema institutions: The Roxie Theater and The Castro Theater. The Festival kicks off Thursday night November 12 at the ROXIE THEATER with a special Gala Opening Night program of international shorts.
On Friday, November 13 @ 7:30pm, SFTFF presents the world premiere of MAJOR!, a documentary exploring the life and campaigns of Stonewall veteran Miss Major Griffin-Gracy at Castro Theater.
