Give OUT Day: Celebrate the Summer with APIENC!
In 2016, individual giving will make up more than 60% of API Equality – Northern California (APIENC)’s Program Budget. This means that our work IS community driven and powered.
This year, we’re participating in Give OUT Day, a 24 hour national day of giving to support LGBTQ organizations. From now until August 2nd, our Give OUT Day goal is to celebrate with 500 unique donors and raise $7000 with our fundraising team comprised of our interns and volunteers. We want to celebrate the summer with YOU! Will you donate $20 today to support our current projects and sustain them into the rest of the year?
HERE ARE OUR SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS FROM APIENC:
2016 marks our 7th year of our summer internship, a core element of our Leadership Development work! From June 21st through July 19th of this summer, we just concluded our 2nd API Queer Justice Leadership Exchange with 22 LGBTQ+ API emerging leaders and allies!
We kickstarted our Resilience Archives workshop series, a collaboration with Visibility Project Director Mia Nakano. Resilience Archives will culminate in a LGBTQ AAPI tour and digital archive of the San Francisco Bay Area.
We’re in the works of launching our Dragon Fruit Project Digital Portal. Since 2013, we’ve collected over 60+ interviews documenting queer Asian Pacific Islander community members and their experiences. Now, we’re disseminating these intergenerational oral histories to make them publicly accessible to our communities.
We recently launched our Artist Collective with an open artwork submissions call for our 1st ever exhibit at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.
We’ve been building up capacity for our Trans Justice public education efforts. Our Trans Justice working group is currently developing upcoming Trans 101 trainings and outreach for community members and partners!
