Our fight is far from over
Hello community,

What a year this has been! I joined the Lavender Phoenix staff team in January this year, and it’s been a whirlwind journey. We have honored LavNix’s 20 year history through a sweet community celebration. We have built power with young people organizing against the ongoing genocide in Palestine. We have supported our members to lead a powerful campaign demanding investments in true care and safety for all San Franciscans. And just over one month ago, we learned of local, state, and national election results that have made one thing clear: our fight is far from over.
As we gear up for the challenging year ahead, our staff and membership has been reflecting and talking about how we sustain ourselves for the fight ahead. Our long-time Healing Justice Organizer, Jasmin, recently returned from sabbatical. She shared that our bodies’ and spirits’ responses of overwhelm and burnout in this moment are not an indication of our own failings, but rather proof of the dire political conditions we are all living in. Practicing our values of interdependence, honesty, and self-determination day-to-day is, as LavNix member lin says, how “we build the strength to carry more for longer.”

We’re so grateful for the ways that you have helped our community build its collective strength over the years. Please continue to work alongside us in the new year. We will need all of us to challenge rising authoritarianism, increased policing and militarization, and escalating violence, and to win. In early 2025, we’ll be sharing our 2024 Year-In-Review, welcoming our newest members from our new Rise Up Cohort, and working alongside partners like the Anti Police Terror Project to mobilize for justice and liberation for all oppressed peoples.
Will you join us by making a one-time or monthly contribution to support Lavender Phoenix today?
In solidarity,
Meha, eri, Shivani, Cynthia, Leo, Jenica, Jasmin, Deema, and Yuan – the Lavender Phoenix team
